MEET THE SUPERINTENDENT

PAUL PENNA, INTERIM SUPERINTENDENT

I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the communities of RSU 3.

The RSU 3 school board has hired me to work collaboratively with the school communities for the 2023-2024 school year.  As a part-time superintendent, it will be important for me to be efficient with the work ahead. I look forward to opportunities that I will have learning about RSU 3 as I visit each school community.

I retired in 2022 from MSAD 6 as Superintendent of Schools.  My previous experience includes two different high school principal positions, assistant principal, and school counselor.  After graduating from college I began my professional career in law enforcement.  Although I have a deep respect for that work, I found my true passion working with and advocating for our children. Throughout my career in education, I have enjoyed working respectfully and collaboratively with other professionals to ensure that students had viable options to access the benefits of our public education system. It is my core belief that we, the professionals and partners, must ensure that our system provides the knowledge, skills, and aptitude for our children to compete in the ever-changing global economy.  We must be committed to preparing all children for their world in order for them to have real choices and opportunities in their life.

In the days and months ahead I will continue to learn and listen from members of the school communities. I will be spending time at each school as well as working closely with the school board as they meet their important policy roles to ensure that the system fulfills the educational responsibilities to the communities of RSU 3.

Thank you for the opportunity to be part of the RSU 3 family that is rich in history supporting the public schools and ultimately all of your children.
