MOUNT VIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Home of the Mustangs!

Our K-5 public elementary school is located in Thorndike, Maine, primarily serving students from the towns of Thorndike, Knox, Unity, and Freedom. Mount View Elementary School is one of three separate schools housed in the same complex building along with Mount View Middle School and Mount View High School. The Mount View Complex was originally established in 1958, but was replaced by a new facility in 2009. Mount View Elementary School offers a close, caring, community learning experience for all of our students.

MVE Mission and Vision

~ Expectations for Learners ~ Students will be invested in their own learning and are expected to set and meet rigorous goals.

~ The Learning Experience ~ Staff will provide clear learning targets and opportunities for choice in how students demonstrate mastery of their learning. Our students will be supported emotionally and physically in order to create a safe environment for learning.

~ Our School/Our Community ~ Families and school staff will work together to support learners as they master their goals and become independent responsible learners in their school and community.

Mount View Elementary School has developed a very comprehensive emergency plan that includes the entire K-12 complex. This plan was developed with guidance from the Waldo County Sheriff’s Department, Maine State Police and other emergency planning specialists. The link below will allow you to see the public version of this comprehensive plan. Parts of the plan are blacked out for security reasons. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the office at 568-7541 or email Mrs. Alicia McCormick at amccormick@rsu3.org.
