Monroe Elementary School

Welcome our new and returning families to the 2017-2018 school year.  I am looking forward to working with your family to make this the best school year ever.   Our school phone number is 525-3504.  Please call with your questions or for additional information.

School Day - School is in session from 7:45am to 3:15pm daily. Students need to be in class and ready to learn by 8:00am. All students eat breakfast from 7:45 to 8am. All visiting adults are reminded to check into the office and get a visitor or volunteer badge. Please make an appointment if you need to see teachers for any reason by calling the school.

Bus Schedules - Bus schedules are available on our district website atwww.rsu3.org

Traveling to and from School - A challenge to the start of a new school year is developing before and after school routines. These first weeks of school are the perfect time to practice getting to and from school safely. Parents are encouraged to chaperone children at bus stops and on walks to school. If you are transporting your student to school please drop off at 7:45am.  Dismissal is at 3:15pm each day.  Please respect these times for safety reasons as we have over 60 students and want to make sure distractions are limited.  If your student will WALK home from school, make sure to practice the safest route to and from school.

Newsletter: We frequently have special events at our school. A list of upcoming events will be posted in each newsletter, and our very active Facebook page.  If you are not a member of our group, Monroe School and PTO, please friend us to join. Also bookmark:  www.rsu3.orgfor our website information.

Medication for Students: Parents must deliver any medication to school because children are not allowed to bring drugs or medicines to school. A medication authorization form MUST be completed, signed by a parent or guardian, and brought to the school office. You may drop off medication any time during regular office hours. Even items like cough drops and ibuprofen need to be checked into the office to prevent possible misuse or allergic reactions in the classroom. If your child will need over the counter medication like cough drops, Benadryl, or Tylenol, please take time to come to school and fill out the medication form and drop off these medications. When students come to the office when feeling sick we always have ice packs and Band Aides. If your child has a fever, head bump or other more serious injury, we always call home. Please see page 12-14 of the student handbook for more information.

Volunteers: We welcome and need many volunteers.  If you plan to volunteer in classrooms (or field trips), you will need to complete Volunteer Training which is quick, easy, and informative.  Please call Vicki Kupferman, 568-4640 at school or 568-3782 at home.   You can also visit our District Webpage by clicking this link:  http://www.rsu3.org/index.php/community-links/rsu-3-volunteer-program
