On August 9, 2016, Education Testing Service (the HiSET test company) will be moving RSU#3 Adult & Community Education Program from a paper-based HiSET testing site to a computerized testing site.
By January 2017, all HiSET testing in Maine will be computerized.
CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2016
Beginning in February 2014, RSU 3 residents who seek to earn a high school equivalency diploma for employment or post secondary education purposes will be tested using the HiSET®, an exam created by Educational Testing Services (ETS). This is the same group who administers the SAT test series. This new test will cover five core areas: Language Arts – Reading; Language Arts – Writing, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.
The great news is that any official GED® exam scores will carry over to the HiSET® exam through a score conversion scale developed by ETS for one year. That means that if you passed an official GED® exam, you will NOT have to re-take that exam.
However, the HiSET® scoring system will include two scoring benchmarks. 1. a minimum passing score range showing skills necessary for high school completion as well as life and job entrance skills and 2. a higher score range showing skills necessary for high school completion and college and career readiness.
Please join us this February to start the process to finish your high school credential!
